In May 2025, I organised and moderated a webinar that brought together seven EU-funded projects to showcase several diverse yet promising hydrogen technologies and applications. After a brief introduction from the Clean Hydrogen Partnership to present their governance and funding opportunities, each project made brief pitches. Finally, a cross-cutting roundtable discussion enabled dynamic interaction amongst the speakers.
In May 2025, I organised and moderated a fireside chat on behalf of the Demo-BLog EU project. The discussion was on the potential of digital building logbooks (DBLs) for circular and affordable built environments. Experts discussed the need for robust data infrastructure, interoperability, and value creation. Key takeaways included cost savings, waste reduction, and other measurable benefits.
In May 2025, I organised and moderated a webinar on 12 May 2025 featured a panel of DBL experts discussing their potential to enable affordable housing, energy renovation, and circular construction. Key topics included DBL efforts and policies in the EU, social inclusion, and challenges like low awareness and standardised terminology.
In January 2025, I moderated a session in Brussels on behalf of BUILD UP with Garcia Audi from the European Commission who provided an update on the revised Energy Performance for Buildings Directive (EPBD). He focused on emerging roles, progress toward neutrality targets, and the European Commission’s forthcoming guidance documents.
I organised and moderated a 2-part workshop, "Energy Communities 2050" at the Sustainable Places 2024 conference in Luxembourg. The insights and solutions shared from the ten involved EU projects are crucial for supporting the growth of energy communities. By fostering collaboration between citizens, policymakers, and innovators, this workshop accelerated the shift towards a more decentralised, citizen-driven energy transition in Europe.
I organised and moderated this webinar ("European Energy Communities: Sector Coupling, Flexibility, and Operational Perspectives") in 2024, which showcased the FEDECOM project's innovative approaches to optimise energy systems and promote sustainability across three pivotal pilots in Spain, Switzerland, and the Benelux region.
I wrote and produced this project video "Five digital building logbooks to decarbonise buildings in Europe" in 2024 on behalf of the Demo-BLog project, where Laurens Somers from Leap Forward presents each of the 5 digital building logbooks in the context of service design, design thinking, and human-centered approaches.
I was an interviewee in this podcast episode of The List ("The EU Energy Projects Podcast: Sustainable Energy Solutions for European Islands with Project NESOI") as part of Enlit 2024. We delve into the European Union’s Clean Energy for EU Islands initiative and it’s impact on over 2400 islands within the EU, facilitating their energy transition, and discussed the challenges and successes of the project, along with its wider implications.
In this video, I deliver a brief overview of the Sustainable Places annual conference, as it's lead organiser and delegate manager for the past 10 years. It was produced by BUILD UP and filmed at the 11th annual edition of the event, which was held in Madrid, June 2023.
I organised and moderated this 90-minute workshop "Energy Communities: Technologies, Services, and Regulations", which explored the renewable energy technologies, guidelines, and regulation frameworks unlocking the penetration of energy communities in Europe. Presentations were delivered by the FEDECOM, POCITYF, REACT, DE-RISK, BECKON, CREATORS, MASTERPIECE and LocalRES projects.
I organised and moderated this workshop ("Circular and Bio-Based Building Solutions"), which brought together four EU-funded projects (BIO4EEB, BIOMAT, MEZeroE, and CE4Con) to discuss increasing the energy efficiency of buildings to achieve climate-neutral conditions by adopting circular and bio-based solutions. Experts presented innovative building envelopes and renovation materials that boost energy savings, save resources, and decrease carbon emissions both during building construction and operation.
I organised and moderated this webinar ("Tools for Data Driven Renovation Design"), which presented some of the tools and technologies developed in the framework of the BIM4Ren project.
I was a featured speaker for this webinar ("SmartBuilt4EU: Meet EU Innovators"), presenting the TABEDE project. For the EU to become climate-neutral by 2050, buildings need to transform from passive isolated elements to energy-efficient and smart grid-ready buildings, able to act as active nodes well integrated to the energy grids and other infrastructure while answering occupants' needs.
I organised and moderated this webinar ("TABEDE Towards Buildings Ready for Demand Response"), where the TABEDE project opened the doors of its pilots: a smart house (in Cardiff, UK), a residential building (in Bergamo – Italy) and an office building (in Grenoble – France) to see how the BMS-Extender is being deployed and validated. Additionally, we provided some recommendations to standardization and regulatory bodies that could empower the widespread adoption of demand response tools.
I organised and moderated this webinar ("Flexibility 2.1 From Demand Response to Renewable Energy Communities"), which briefly presented various results from the following 15 European-funded projects, each focused on a unique aspect of the energy transition both at building and community levels. The webinar aimed to kickstart stakeholder engagement within a shared LinkedIn group of the same name, open to anyone with interest.
I organised and moderated this online workshop ("Flexibility 2.0: Demand Response and Self Consumption"), which fostered knowledge transfer between eight innovative H2020 projects, each developing innovative solutions within the field of demand response and energy flexibility. The problems being solved and technologies developed facilitate optimised synergies between actors of the built environment and the power grid.
In this webinar ("Taking Demand Response to Scale the TABEDE solution"), I delivered a 10-minute speech about his strategy in the TABEDE project to valorise the results achieved. Specifically, my presentation was entitled, "Transferring the TABEDE Toolbox to the Demand Response Market".
